minor computer glitch but the challenge continues...Day 12

Today I saw there was an opportunity to volunteer for M.O.V.E they were having a meeting at BDC for coeliac disease and diabetes, but I only read about the meeting 1 hour before it started so I quickly got ready and rushed to the studio. After a 2 hour meeting we discussed how we will be advertising for this gluten-free retreat for coeliacs and diabetics. It's at home sort of work as it is all online...but it will take quite a few hours of work to achieve the tasks set out.

After that I photocopied the remainder of the music I had borrowed from Darren, then went uptown to return the books to him and book another coaching lesson with him for next week.

I also got student rush tickets to see Rock of Ages with Sheridan:)

Tuna sandwich on whole-wheat with fresh lime juice and tabasco sauce...my mouth was burning afterwards hahaha

Came home and did 40 minutes of vocal technique... working on the shape and lift of the soft palette, remembering the same shape from yesterday's lesson. As Christian told me, I need to remember the physical shape...because the sound will be the same to me...it's the same note, but it resonates more with the correct shape. My voice was feeling strong and well warmed up. I practiced "Rita's tune", "I will be Loved" and researched what song would be better to record on a demo. I still dont know if I should go pop/rock or musical theater for my youtube debut.

Then headed downtown  to pick up my keys for the apt, to start moving stuff in.

Sheridan came and met me and gave me some kitchen basics for the new place:)

Then we went and saw my 2nd live performance this month...Rock of Ages

I wasn't allowed to take a photo inside the theater but the set was really grungy looking...it was set in a L.A bar/club in the mid 80s...but the set spilled out into the walls of the theater...it was pretty cool. The show itself was good, it's very melodramatic and breaks the 4th wall by talking directly to the audience about what is happening in the script of the show etc. But the vibe and the music was energizing. Loved the mash-ups of old school rock. The lead male vocalist was awesome!

Then headed to dinner with Sheridan:
Vegetable broth with spinach and egg....sounds gross but it was really tasty:)

After dinner we headed to a starbucks to see if I could post this blog...but the webpage was still down so we went to HA comedy club to see Tituss Burgess perform at Broadway Sessions...but we missed him:(
He has a show coming up that I would like to go to, I have heard good things about his voice and new album. So a group of us walked FOREVER to find a cafe/diner open at 1am and we ended up at Carnegie Deli which is apparently quite famous in NY...I'm not surprised, their pieces of cake and pie where mammoth!!!! Talk about value for money hahaha. But I didn't get home until 4.30am, when I checked the blog page...still down. Which was a relief, a 4.30am blog probably wouldn't have been readable.
