Singing Lesson with Christian Fletcher
Songs worked on: "A way back to then" and "Rita's Tune"
Healthy Meal...Lunch at Hale and Hearty
Beef Stew with veggies and 7 Grain bread...delicious!
Another Rainy day...surprise surprise...but i was well equipped with my gumboots and brolly.
Singing:
Went uptown to Harlem for my vocal lesson this morning.
The very top of central park...so gorgeous!!!
I was in full voice today and after working on my technique with Christian felt really good about where my voice was:) The day 17 slump had passed LOL. I worked on the song I will be using for my Audition on Friday for a broadway show (hopefully I will get the opportunity to sing, even though I'm not in Equity!) I was not sure if my song choice was an appropriate one but Christian said it was perfect and sounded great...He really restored my confidence in singing this piece and just singing in general. "Get out of your head" he kept saying...and so many of my teachers before have said the same. I need to not think about my voice too much (as in critically) and just enjoy it. Enjoy the sound, the performance and remember that it is an instrument within a human being and we can have good days and bad. Today was a good day:)
Also worked on the vowel sounds more which really helped on the higher belt sections...opening up the vowel maintains the same shape in the mouth, soft palette etc to keep the same tone throughout. And it feels so safe to belt high with the open vowel sound.
After that I went back down to Columbus Circle to meet with Darren (musical coaching) to return his sheet music. Then stopped at Hale and Hearty for soup...it was the first time I've been there and I will definitely go back...yummmm!
Physio:
Then I headed to the Upper East side for my physio treatment... 3 subway rides later...
And my ankle was much better today. Less inflamed and less tender. May even be able to return to dance as soon as next week! Depending on how it goes between now and then. So I have about 40 different exercises to practice each day! Which is alot...but I am looking for vast improvement in a short period of time so I can make the most of this program. Apparently this weird pain I have had in my hip is the result of my doing pilates incorrectly. She massaged my hip-flexor which is possibly the most painful experience I will incur next to giving birth. I need to invest in a foam roller to massage it out of a day.
Then had a Full-voice challenge meeting in which I realised how much more I have to do in the remaining 12 days! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
and breathe...
Oh and whilst cooking dinner...I set off hte smoke alarm, and it took me ages to figure out how to turn it off...luckily it was conveniently located next to the washer dryer so that I had something to stand on (as we have no other furniture)...And I didn't burn anything, must just be ultra sensitive! LOL

Then tonight Libby came home with a toaster, tumblers and tea-towels...and she purchased a couch!
Our home is slowly becoming a reality!
I also booked a recording studio to record a demo next week. I will record a musical theater song on my laptop for youtube and have a demo of a pop/rock song as well for submissions. Can I do it all in time? I hope so! xoxo
