The icing of the ankle...
This morningI went to Bettina's vocal technique class again...I really feel like I am getting alot out of her class by awakening my soprano voice again. Warming down with some soprano scales after I have been using my belt/mix has made a huge difference in my vocal health. My voice feels stronger, flexible and less fatigued if I warm down by going over my entire vocal range.
In her class today we did 40 minutes of warm-up and worked on the same song as yesterday "Say It's Only a Paper Moon" but this time we experimented with Jazz, staying in a jazz rhythm and trying our own melodies on the repeat...let's just say I'm not quite ready to start Scat singing just yet hahaha. But it was a great exercise! Made me understand where to change the melody in a jazz piece. First you establish the melody, then when it becomes apparent (repeats) you can begin to change it, maybe changing only 3 notes...but don't over do the impro or it becomes annoying. Definitely something I want to work on:)
I purchased Bettina's book (including CD) this morning for $20
It really does have Everything! It's a great "get to know the whole voice" kind of book. It explains
everything in detail and the CD is a great guide...
After class I went to my first COACHING LESSON with a musical director/accompanist Darren Cohen.... unfortunately I forgot to get a photo with him...but I borrowed a ton of sheet music from him which I need to return, so I will hopefully get a photo with him then...
For today I just took a photo of all the sheet music he thought would be suitable for my book. All from shows I have never heard of which I am very excited about!
Over 12 songs for me to work on:)
Then I came home and booked some movers to assist me on saturday...and they're not cheap!
They charge pretty much per item that they will be carrying, so I plan to take as much as I can in a taxi beforehand, so that I don't have to pay for them to move any extra bags on top of what I have pre-booked.
I spent 2 hours going through the songs that Darren played through for me, trying to get a feel for each song, the story behind each song etc. I really like one that he gave me that's set in the 30s/40s era...only confirming the fact that I should have been born in the 1920s so that I could have lived through some of the most amazing era's! And been a 1950's housewife excited about the introduction of white goods :)
I'm not even joking! I would love to see the things my Grandma has seen ...she turns 100 years old in July!!!!! Go Mimi!!!!!
So Libby organized for us to have electricity when we move in hooooooray!!!!!!
And I have organized internet connection (the other bare essential LOL) however they can't connect until TUESDAY! So I have no idea how I'm going to get my blog done everyday...McDonalds wi-fi?
I also have packed up all of my wardrobe, it's just the bits and pieces left to pack on the day...I can't wait to just be moved in already!
Dinner:
Whole-wheat spaghetti with baby spinach, mushrooms, spanish onion and ragu sauce...topped with some parmesan:)
Bedtime...I have a singing lesson in the morning, then yoga class, then a physio appointment...and I have to photocopy like a million pages of sheet music...so sleepy already zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
